Environmental Health has officers working in Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Tennant Creek, as well as visiting remote communities.

Environmental Health is supported by a small operational program and policy development team.

Environmental Health Bush Book

The Environmental Health Bush Book introduces key concepts and topics related to environmental health within the context of working in remote communities across the Northern Territory, including:

  • housing
  • water quality
  • wastewater management
  • food safety
  • vector management
  • health promotion.

It aims to highlight the importance of environmental health and demonstrate how improvements to conditions and practices can support better public health outcomes.

The book is designed to support initial learning and to direct readers to organisations, particularly government agencies and units, for further assistance.
