NT Allied Health Excellence Awards

The Northern Territory Allied Health Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding efforts of allied health professionals and allied health assistants/technicians across the Territory.

The awards acknowledge those who excel in their profession and make a difference to the health and wellbeing of Territorians on a daily basis.

Winners will be announced, and all finalists will be celebrated at the Awards night on 11 October 2024 at Parliament House in Darwin.

Award Finalists

There are 8 award categories which recognise excellence in client care, community health, research or quality improvement, leadership, team performance and commitment to the allied health profession in the Northern Territory.

The Early Career Excellence category applies to recent, high performing allied health graduates who are highly valued by their colleagues and patients while also showing considerable potential in their career.

2024 finalists:

  • Chloe Frost, Occupational Therapist, My Therapy Crew
  • Holly Van Vliet, Occupational Therapist, NT Health
  • Jessica Tingey, Exercise Physiologist, Vitality Health Rehab.

The Excellence in Clinical Practice category applies to nominees who deliver outstanding services or significantly influence clinical practice.

The winner of this category will have demonstrated outstanding clinical practice, be highly valued by their colleagues and patients while also considerably contributing to their profession and/or patient outcomes.

  • Amy Schonewille, Podiatrist, Central Australian Aboriginal Congress
  • Brynley Cooper, Pharmacist, NT Health
  • Tara Hay, Pharmacist, NT Health
  • Amy Elson, Occupational Therapist, NT Health.

The Excellence in Research or Quality Improvement category applies to nominees who deliver exemplary and impactful contributions to allied health related research or continuous quality improvement.

The winner of this category will have demonstrated significant impact from their research or quality improvement initiatives, a dedication to improving health outcomes and/or service delivery through generating new knowledge. They also are highly valued in their field and considerably contribute to their profession.

  • Hanna Andrews, Occupational Therapist, NT Health
  • Rebecca Jarrott, Occupational Therapist, Learn and Thrive Therapy.

The Excellence in Leadership category applies to nominees who deliver exemplary leadership in allied health.

The winner of this category will have demonstrated the ability to significantly influence those around them in a positive and impactful way while being highly valued by their colleagues and profession.

  • Simone Tribe, Podiatrist, NT Health

The Team Excellence category applies to collective teams who deliver high performing allied health services or outcomes.

The winner of this category delivers excellent outcomes for person centred care and/or their profession which has been achieved through excellent teamwork.

  • Child & Youth Assessment and Therapeutic Service, Central Australia, Central Australia Aboriginal Congress
  • Alice Springs Hospital Pharmacy Department, Central Australia, NT Health

The Excellence in Community Practice category applies to nominees who deliver outstanding services or significantly influence community health, including in rural or remote practice.

The winner of this category has demonstrated outstanding community practice, is highly valued by their colleagues and patients/communities while considerably contributing to their profession and/or patient outcomes.

  • Sam Brennan, Psychologist, Sam Brennan Psychology

The Excellence in Allied Health Assistance/Technical Support category applies to nominees working in a technical role which directly supports allied health professionals.

The winner of this category provides high quality and highly valued assistant services to allied health professionals and their services.

  • Jodie Yodgee, Pharmacy Technician, NT Health
  • Lia Gumbula, Allied Health Assistant, NT Health

The Allied Health Honour Roll category applies to nominees who have dedicated a substantial amount of their career to working in the NT.

The winner/s of this category are highly regarded by their team, service and/or profession, and their work has had momentous and long-standing impacts on allied health in the NT.
