NT Allied Health Excellence Awards

The NT Allied Health Excellence Awards were run for the first time in 2023.

Designed to recognise and celebrate the outstanding efforts of allied health professionals and allied health assistants/technicians across the Territory, the awards acknowledge those who excel in their profession, and who make a difference to the health and wellbeing of Territorians on a daily basis.

The award winners were announced at an awards ceremony at Parliament House on Wednesday 29 November 2023.

Award categories

There were 8 award categories in 2023 which recognise excellence in client care, community health, research and education, leadership, team performance and commitment to the allied health profession in the Northern Territory.

The categories were:

The Early Career Excellence Award applies to recent allied health graduates.

The winner of this category will be a high performer in their role, will be highly valued by their colleagues and patients and show considerable potential for their future career.

The Excellence in Clinical Practice Award applies to nominees who deliver outstanding services or significantly influence clinical practice.

The winner of this category will be an outstanding performer in clinical practice, will be highly valued by their colleagues and patients, and considerably contribute to their profession and/or patient outcomes.

The Excellence in Research or Clinical Education Award category applies to nominees who deliver exemplary and impactful contributions to allied health related research or education, including through student supervision.

The winner of this category will have demonstrated significant impact from their work, translated their activities into practice and have built a meaningful influence. They will be highly valued in their field and considerably contribute to their profession.

The Excellence in Leadership Award category applies to nominees who in work in any setting delivering exemplary leadership for allied health in the Northern Territory.

The winner of this category will have significantly influenced those around them in a positive and impactful way, and is highly valued by their colleagues and profession.

The Team Excellence Award category applies to nominees who work as a collective team, deliver high performing allied health services or outcomes in any setting.

The winner of this category will deliver excellent outcomes for person centred care and/or their profession which has been achieved through excellent teamwork.

The Excellence in Community Practice category applies to nominees who deliver outstanding services or significantly influence community health, including in rural or remote practice.

The winner of this category will be an outstanding performer in community practice, will be highly valued by their colleagues and patients/communities, and considerably contribute to their profession and/or patient outcomes.

The Excellence in Allied Health Assistance/Technical Support Award category applies to nominees who work in a technical role which directly supports allied health professionals.

The winner of this category will provide high quality and highly valued assistant services for allied health professionals and the services which they provide.

The Allied Health Honour Roll category applies to nominees who are recognised for dedicating a substantial time of their career to working in the Northern Territory.

The winner/s of this category are highly regarded by their team, service and/or profession and whose work has had a momentous and long standing impact on allied health in the Northern Territory.

Eligibility

The awards were open to allied health staff, technicians and teams working in any health care environment and with any organisation in the NT.

This includes those working in:

  • hospitals
  • primary health care
  • rural and remote
  • aged care
  • academia,
  • education
  • research
  • management.
