Confident Care in Aged Care

Training for health professionals in aged care

Confident Care in Aged Care is a training program for aged care professionals. It focuses on strengthening the ability of staff to provide high-quality care and recognise early signs of health changes in older individuals.

About Confident Care in Aged Care

The program delivers accessible, practical learning that builds skills, improves confidence, and supports best practice across aged care services.

By enhancing early recognition and response, our training helps reduce avoidable hospital transfers and supports older individuals to remain well in familiar surroundings.

The program has been shaped by feedback from aged care workers and services across the Northern Territory (NT), recognising the realities of busy workloads, workforce shortages, remote service delivery, and cultural diversity.

Learning framework

The Confident Care in Aged Care learning framework is based on 5 key focus areas:

  • person-centred care
  • inclusion and diversity
  • quality care and safety
  • continuous improvement
  • ownership of learning.

This framework places older individuals at the centre of care by promoting dignity, respect, choice, and cultural safety. Cultural awareness and trauma-informed care are embedded across all learning activities.
