Staff spotlight: Anna Holwell Stroke Care Champion

Published

Did you hear the news? Dr Anna Holwell has been recognised for her stellar work at Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) by the Stroke Foundation, winning the prestigious 2023 Stroke Care Champion Award!

Anna, pictured (right) with members of the ASH Stroke Unit, is the Head of Department of Medicine and Stroke Lead at the hospital. Anna has been working hard over the last decade to provide excellent stroke care to the people of Central Australia.

Just a few weeks ago, ASH became an accredited Stroke Capable Regional Hospital, joining eight other hospitals across Australia as part of a new certification program designed to improve stroke care. Anna showed amazing leadership and was integral to this achievement.

“Winning this award - combined with the Stroke Unit at ASH recently becoming one of the first accredited stroke units in rural Australia - is evidence that excellent health care can and is being provided in rural and remote areas,” said Anna.

Well done, Anna, for your dedication to improving the health and lives of Territorians!
