Anniversary Dr. David Mitchell's as Chief Psychiatrist: Promoting Mental Health in NT

Published

October is Mental Health Awareness Month – a time for communities to connect and raise awareness of the importance of mental health.

It also marks the one-year anniversary of Dr David Mitchell’s appointment as the Chief Psychiatrist at NT Health.

“The role of the Chief Psychiatrist means working to improve mental health of all Territorians, promoting a better understanding of mental health in the community and reducing the stigma associated with mental health issues,” said Dr Mitchell.

“The Chief Psychiatrist is the chief advocate for Territorians’ mental health – and the appointment of this role in the Northern Territory last year helped to align us with other jurisdictions in Australia.”
