Ear and hearing health education
Talking culture is a community-based ear and hearing health education resource for children aged zero to 5 years.
NT Hearing designed the resources to support teaching of ear health strategies and speech-language development.
The resources can be used by:
- clinic staff
- educators
- other health professionals.
About the resources
The resources have practical tips for families and communities, including:
- keeping ears healthy through hygiene and nutrition
- encouraging language development through play and interaction
- discussing hearing concerns with families
- using a speech screener that screens for both standard Australian English and Aboriginal English
- anatomically correct images of ears
- encouraging nose blowing and other healthy hearing habits.
