Hospital Network Governing Councils

As part of the governance structure of the Hospital Networks, the Minister for Health has appointed members to the Top End and Central Australian Hospital Network Governing Councils.

Governing Councils will have the important task of engaging with clinical and community stakeholders. Governing Councils will focus on all the hospitals within their region working together to provide the best care possible. They will be the major link between the hospitals in each Hospital Network and the health consumers and community members in the area covered by the Network. They will look to facilitate better coordination of services for patients in the community by working with key health stakeholders including the Northern Territory Medicare Local.

Governing Councils will also work with the Chief Executive of the Department of Health and the Hospital Network Executive Director to oversee the performance and accountability of the Hospital Network against agreed targets. They will also provide feedback to the Minister for Health on issues of strategic importance for the Hospital Network and on the health needs of the community.
