27 May 2012 - 2 Jun 2012:  Macular Degeneration Awareness Week 2012
Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in Australia. Macular Degeneration Awareness Week is an annual event designed to raise awareness of Macular Degeneration and to encourage those most at risk, people over 50, to have their eyes tested and macula checked. A free Macular Degeneration information pack is available from the Foundation.
31 May 2012:  World No Tobacco Day
World No Tobacco Day occurs annually on May 31. It was created by the World Health Organization to bring attention to the death and disease caused globally by preventable tobacco use.
3 Jun 2012 - 9 Jun 2012:  Bowel Cancer Awareness Week
Bowel Cancer Awareness Week aims to raise public awareness of a disease that claims the life of one Australian every two hours.
11 Jun 2012 - 17 Jun 2012:  International Men's Health Week
It is a major opportunity for the widest possible range of organizations and individuals to work together to raise awareness of men’s health issues and to develop practical initiatives to improve the poor state of male health in Australia. MHW is co-ordinated throughout Australia by the Australasian Men’s Health Forum (AMHF) with the support and collaboration of partners who share its aim of promoting the health of men and boys.

The national peak body for the speech pathology profession in Australia, striving for excellence and recognition for the profession and representing the interests of members and their clients with communication and swallowing difficulties.
29 Jun 2012:  Red Nose Day
SIDS and Kids is dedicated to saving the lives of babies and children during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood and to supporting bereaved families. Red Nose Day, held annually on the last Friday in June, is the major fundraiser for SIDS and Kids. Funds raised through Red Nose Day activities assist us in providing our vital services and programs.

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
22 Jul 2012:  Fragile X Awareness Day
Fragile X Awareness Day on July 22nd is to promote the awareness of Fragile X syndrome. The incidence of Fragile X can be significantly reduced through awareness and early intervention assists in providing support and strategies to help improve the quality of life of a Fragile X child. In Australia, it is estimated that one child every week is born with Fragile X and twelve are born carriers.
