Disability Advisory Council (DAC)

The Northern Territory Disability Advisory Council provides advice to the Minister for Family and Community Services on the policy, planning and delivery of disability services in the Northern Territory.

The DAC is an important mechanism for people with disabilities, their carers, service providers and other key stakeholders to advise on policy and practice change.

The DAC has an Independent Chair, as well as 7 members who are appointed by the Minister for three years. These members are primarily people with disabilities, carers and community members with an interest in disability. Disability Service providers and government agency representatives also participate on the DAC for the purpose of hearing the consumer and community perspective, contributing information and actioning relevant advice.
