About Seniors CardThe NT Seniors Card is part of an Australia wide initiative jointly supported by the Northern Territory Government and private enterprise. The Scheme recognises the valuable contribution of older people to their local community and the Territory as a whole. The Seniors Card is issued free and provides access to savings on a range of goods and services provided by participating businesses. The success of the scheme is dependant on the private sector. In return for their support, businesses are given a FREE listing in either of the Seniors Card Business Directories. | ![]() |
What's New
Seniors Card Businesses
The Seniors Card Scheme is increasing in popularity. The first Seniors Card Business Directory listed 98 businesses. Now, just 10 years on there are more than 630 local businesses support the Scheme and more than 14,000 Seniors Card members across the Territory.
Ahead of ACT (519), Tasmania (616), SA (400) and WA (525), Territory businesses are to be commended on their great support of seniors.
The next Seniors Card Business Directory will be out in the new year and will have a different format. All businesses from both the Tourism & Leisure and General Business sectors will be included in the one publication. This should make finding particular discount offers much simpler with only one Directory to refer to.
We are currently trying to recruit new businesses. Free listings are available in the Directory for all businesses offering a genuine discount to seniors. Any businesses interested in joining should register now.
Seniors who know of any businesses that offer discounts and aren't included in the Directory are encouraged to give us a call so we can promote their support.
Business of Excellence AwardsIn response to reports from that some businesses provide exceptional services to seniors, the Seniors Card Business of Excellence Awards were introduced last year seeking nominations from cardholders for their favourite "senior-friendly" business. The winner for this year's Tourism & Leisure sector is Terrace Café of Katherine which is featured on the front cover of the Tourism and Leisure Directory. Nominations were received from Seniors Cardholders across the Territory and businesses are to be commended on their commitment to retail excellence as well as making a special effort for our senior Territorians. The winner of the General Directory sector will be announced soon. Watch this space for details!!!! Nominations are now being sought for 2011. | ![]() |
